The left-back is fully aware of the magnitude of the occasion as Louis van Gaal's men aim to take confidence from the late drama against Chelsea at the weekend.

"I don't think we are playing our best at the moment and sometimes you saw that," he said after the Chelsea draw. "It will take time but, when we are all on form, I think we are going to be a scary team to face.

"Every game in the Premier League is hard but we've got to look forward to it this week. It's a massive occasion for everyone involved in it.

"We're all looking forward to it. We know what we need to do so we just need to focus on that during this week and come out firing on Sunday.

"The whole word watches it [the derby] - it's one of the biggest occasions in football after the World Cups and Champions League finals. I'm sure everyone will be watching and we're looking forward to it."
